In this video tutorial I explain how to write a business plan for a tshirt business (sometimes referred to as a tshirt line), and how to start a tshirt business. And most importantly, I explain how and where to sell the tshirts.

The biggest problem people have when they first start out in this business is that they don’t know where to print their tshirts. There are two good solutions for this. The first solution I discuss in the video is a website like CafePress which prints the tshirts for you. Their prices aren’t wholesale prices. They are more expensive. But you often don’t need wholesale inventory levels when you first start your t-shirt business. What you need is to test the designs and see how they sell.

You can promote and sell your tshirts offline from kiosks or carts, or you can sell them online. There are many places where you can sell your t-shirts online. You can sell them on Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and a number of other websites. You can even sell them on CafePress and other tshirt websites where you print them. The most important piece of the puzzle is to find the designs that sell. Once you find the designs that sell best, you can try to sell them across the web or offline. The process is often one of experimentation where you go through a number of designs that don’t sell well at all, and eventually learn from interacting with your buyers. Over time you will learn what sells best, and be able to to create great tshirts, and sell them to audiences who are likely to buy them.

A tshirt business is not an easy one to start because this space is quite competitive. Also, few people will want to spend extra money on tshirts, especially if you want to sell yours for a premium price.

Lastly, if you have started your own t shirt business, or are in the process of growing one, please post your experiences in the comments of this video so we can all learn from your experience.
